Since 1996 we have been providing ESL students with summer camp adventure programs that make learning English fun, interactive, and effective.
Wynchemna’s philosophy is that one should enjoy acquiring a second language. We accomplish this through a combination of classroom instruction and recreational activities. Wynchemna is a total immersion programme. Total immersion means that the students are expected to speak English at all times. We encourage the students to speak English not only in the classroom, but also during the recreational activities, on the bus, in the apartments, while walking to the cafeteria, during their free time and any place where there are other Wynchemna students. This means that each participant is immersed in English throughout the day, and learns English both through formal instruction and by using English in everyday and fun activities. We realize that the students are youths and that although they are here to learn English, they are also here to enjoy themselves in a new and exciting environment, but this does not mean that they can speak whatever language they want.
We offer 3 and 4 week summer camp programs in Vancouver starting at the end of June and running through to the end of August. Unlike the Calgary ESL Summer Camps, we offer these camps to students aged 8 to 23 years old. We only offer 3 camps so be sure to register early to reserve your spot.

The living accommodation is situated at the University of British Columbia(UBC). The participants live in modern residences, have a single bedroom and share an apartment with 3 other students from various different countries.There are usually 4–bedrooms in an apartment, a living room and a kitchen. In each bedroom there is a single bed and desk. Every two students share a bathroom. It is a friendly campus for students and those who join the programme discover that the campus is a stimulating place to learn and a relaxing place to reside.
Wynchemna's summer camp is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Vancouver is a beautiful city ranked by the United Nations as the most desirable city to live in. The camp is run from the University of British Columbia campus which offers students of the program unique access to incredible facilities and resources that come with one of Canada's best universities.
The safety and health of students in our program is our top concern.
Important points to note are:
we have counsellors available 24 hours a day who sleep in the student apartments
each student is automatically given medical insurance upon arrival in Canada. It is important to note that this insurance does not activate until they are in Canada and have been picked up by one of our representatives. It is also highly advised to get travellers insurance as well.
students are never left unsupervised.
girls and boys accommodation is separated and counsellors are present and available to supervise.

Just remember not to pack too much....think about the souvenirs you are going to take back home AND you really don't want to have to haul a heavy bag around an airport. You will have access to laundry and if you don't know how to use it, a teacher or counsellor will teach you.
