The Go
English program places international students
aged 5 - 11 in elementary schools in beautiful
Kimberley, British Columbia. Once home to the
world famous Sullivan Mine, Kimberley is now a
four season resort destination dedicated to tourism,
recreation and education. The population of the
city is 99% English speaking making it a great
place to learn and practice English.
Located in the southeastern corner of the province
of British Columbia, Kimberley is about four hours
from Calgary by car and only an hour from Vancouver
by plane. The region is known as the Kootenay
Rockies and is home to numerous hot springs and
heritage sites as well as some of the best golfing
and skiing in all of Canada. International children
and their parents can enjoy a variety of recreational
and cultural day trips up and down the valley
on their own time and as part of school excursions.
With a year-round population of only 7000 people,

English participants have the opportunity to meet
and get to know members of the local community.
The people of Kimberley are friendly, energetic
and motivated to welcome visitors from around
the world. Special workshops are held throughout
the year to train community members in the basics
of ESL instruction to further enhance Kimberley's
ability to host international students.
Kimberley
is an active community committed to taking advantage
of its amazing Rocky Mountain location. Children
in Kimberley enjoy participating in a wide variety
of after school and weekend clubs and sports.
Go
English participants are encouraged to join in
to learn new skills, make new friends, use their
English and have fun! Some of the options available
include soccer, Boy Scouts, baseball, ice hockey,
Girl Guides, highland dance, cross country skiing,
music lessons, ballet, cycling, boxing, golf,
karate, downhill skiing, figure skating and much
more. Go
English supports parents and children who participate
in clubs or sports by assisting with registration
and working with leaders and coaches to ensure
each child's experience is happy and productive.
